Masternodes

Dedicated online nodes backed by locked BBK—similar to how leading PoS projects reward people who help run the network.

What is a masternode?

A masternode is a BitBlocks full node that stays online with a stable public connection and locks 150,000 BBK as collateral. Together with stakers, it helps validate the blockchain and supports features like SwiftTX instant locks and optional privacy (Obfuscation).

Operators receive part of every block reward and can vote on community proposals. Rewards vary with network conditions; the exact split between stakers and masternodes is set by the protocol and adjusts over time.

Collateral

150,000 BBK per node, kept as one unspent output while your masternode runs.

What you need

Collateral

150,000 BBK per node, kept as one unspent output while your masternode runs.

Server & network

A VPS or home server with a dedicated IP, running the BitBlocks wallet/daemon as recommended in the official guides.

Uptime

Run the node 24/7 and keep it synced—if it goes offline, you stop earning until it is healthy again.

Block rewards

Each new block shares its reward between the staking wallet that created the block and a masternode chosen by the network. Treasury payouts through superblocks are currently disabled—rewards today are the staker and masternode portions only.

Stakers

Wallets that stake and mint blocks earn their share of the reward for helping secure the chain.

Masternode operators

The selected masternode earns its share for running infrastructure and network services day and night.

Governance

Masternode owners can vote on proposals to guide the project. Automatic treasury payments via superblocks are turned off on the network at the moment.

Decentralized Governance

Proposals, transparent discussion, and on-chain votes from masternode operators—so the community guides BitBlocks together.

How It Works

1

Preparation

Create collateral transaction (burns coins)

2

Submission

Proposal propagation on the network

3

Voting

Masternodes vote on proposals

4

Finalization

Approved proposals compiled into budget

5

Treasury payouts

When enabled, approved budgets can be paid from the chain via superblocks. Superblock treasury is off on the network today; voting still steers priorities.

Features

  • Total Transparency

All proposals are public on the blockchain

  • Direct Democracy

    Each masternode has one vote

  • On-chain treasury (when active)

Designed so approved budgets can pay out automatically—superblocks are currently disabled.

  • Spam Prevention

Proposals require collateral to prevent spam

Use Cases

BitBlocks is ideal for various payment scenarios

Daily Payments

  • Online and offline purchases
  • Peer-to-peer payments
  • Microtransactions
  • International remittances

Business Applications

  • B2B payments
  • Payroll
  • System integration
  • E-commerce

Financial Inclusion

  • Banking access for the unbanked
  • Low-cost remittances
  • Payments in remote areas

Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about BitBlocks

BitBlocks (BBK) is an open-source cryptocurrency focused on instant, fee-free payments using decentralized peer-to-peer technology. It aims to solve problems of traditional financial systems and existing cryptocurrencies by providing a fast and cost-effective payment solution.
You can earn rewards in the BitBlocks network in two main ways: by Staking your coins (Proof of Stake), which requires keeping your wallet open and unlocked for staking, or by operating a Masternode, which requires 150,000 BBK collateral and a dedicated server, providing advanced network services.
Yes, BitBlocks is highly secure. It uses a Proof of Stake consensus algorithm which is energy-efficient and secure. Additionally, the network is supported by Masternodes which validate transactions and provide security checkpoints, making the blockchain resistant to attacks.
To set up a wallet, go to our Download section and choose the version compatible with your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Download and install the BitBlocks Core wallet. Once installed, let it synchronize with the network to start sending and receiving BBK.
BitBlocks transactions are completely fee-free (Zero Fees). This feature makes BitBlocks ideal for microtransactions and daily payments where traditional transaction fees would be prohibitive.
